Younger stars like the McElhinney twins of You’re a Star fame, will feature in the first half of the gala fundraising concert at Cork Opera House on February 22.

However, the second half of the three-hour show will be dominated by some enduring favourites, many of whom are household names to the older generation.

These include The Montforts, Paddy Comerford and Mon Murphy.

Also in the line-up are the Cork City Male Voice Choir and Michael McCarthy. He is currently performing in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Les Miserables in London and will be flying over especially for event.

Spokesman for the organisers, Noel Magner said: “We in Cork are extremely proud that our city will be the European Capital of Culture in 2005. Already many prestigious and high-profile events have been scheduled for city and county venues during 2005, and it is imperative that we should recognise the generations of entertainers and various talents who have performed on Cork stages over the years.”

Tickets can be booked at Cork Opera House. Dress circle tickets cost €50 each. Stalls and upper circle are €35 and front stall tickets cost €25.
