Postmen targeted in credit card crime spree
A major garda operation has been set up to crack down on the gangs involved in so-called “identity theft”.
The Dublin-based gangs are estimated to be earning thousands of euro and, in some cases, hundreds of thousands of euro from the operations. The credit cards stolen are used in fraudulent financial transactions. Identification details are also used for other purposes, such as applying for driving licences and passports.
