A bloody start to the new year

The latest victim, 21-year-old Martin McLoughlin, died yesterday morning from injuries suffered when a row broke out among a group of young people in Jurys Croke Park Hotel opposite the GAA headquarters in Dublin.

Mr McLoughlin, from Cherrywood Park, Clondalkin, west Dublin, had booked into the hotel with friends for the new year and was not long returned from a night out celebrating in Dublin city when the argument started on the third floor at about 4.15am on New Year’s Day.
