Taoiseach hopes to attend funeral

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern is hoping to attend Liam Lawlor’s funeral, if his busy diplomatic schedule allows it.

With the service expected to be held this Thursday, it may prove impossible for Mr Ahern to be there as he is due to represent Ireland at an EU gathering in London that day.

His spokeswoman stressed the Taoiseach wishes to be at the funeral, if it is at all possible.
