It was the second such incident in the area in the past 24 hours.
Yesterday’s shooting happened at Knocknarea Road, Drimnagh, shortly before 5pm as two men were servicing a jeep.
As they were working on the vehicle, a moped approached with two male riders. The pillion passenger fired a number of shots at the men, injuring both of them. Locals reported hearing a number of shots being fired in rapid succession.
The injured men were taken to St James’s Hospital with gunshot wounds and were last night said to be in a serious condition.
Gardaí at Sundrive Road Garda Station, who are investigating the incident, have divulged no further details.
The motive for the orchestrated attack remains unknown.
Last night, gardaí appealed to anyone who saw two men on a moped or motorbike wearing blacked-out helmets in the Drimnagh area between 4.50pm and 6pm yesterday to contact them at 01-6666600.
At 10pm on Sunday night, a man was hit in the chest with gun fire as he sat in a car at St Martin’s Park, Kimmage. The injured 25-year-old man was discovered when gardaí received a call to a house at an address in St Martin’s Park.
The victim, who was suffering from pellet wounds to the chest, described his attacker and said he had been hit by a shotgun blast.
He was also taken to St James’s Hospital where his condition was said to be comfortable.
Gardaí at Sundrive Road in Dublin are investigating both incidents
Gardaí were unable to say if these latest incidents were related, but the attacks have all the hallmarks of another Dublin gangland faction fight.
