THERE was an angry backlash from unions and opposition parties yesterday to Government moves clearing the way for the privatisation of Aer Lingus.

The developments came as cabin crews voted to strike over their continuing pay dispute with the company.

The Aer Lingus Bill 2003, which was debated for the first time yesterday, provides for the sale of the State’s shares in the airline should the Government decide to sell.
