RIOT police were called to a west Belfast hospital yesterday after more than 100 people demonstrated against a visit by the Prince of Wales.

After the strong force of riot police arrived at the main entrance, the crowd packed up their banners and posters and melted away.

They were nowhere to be seen by the time the prince arrived in a convoy of cars to formally open the Royal Victoria Hospital extension on the Falls Road 30 minutes later.
