PROPOSALS to provide all fire stations in Co Cork with defibrillators have been put on hold until the findings of a Government taskforce are made known early next year.

Several county councillors, who had been lobbied by fire brigade personnel, had requested the life-saving equipment be installed in all stations and brought on all emergency calls.

They wanted the equipment available to the public on a 24-hour basis and also to fire brigade personnel in case they were struck down with heart attacks at the scene of an emergency.
