Category winners included the Suzuki Baleno which won the Irish Small Car of the Year award; the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé which won the Medium Car prize; the Mercedes-Benz E-Class which won the Irish Large Car gong; the Peugeot 2008 which secured the Small SUV of the Year award; the Hyundai Tucson which was voted Medium SUV of the Year; while the Ford Edge was voted Large SUV of the Year; and the Ford Mustang rounded things off by winning the Performance/Sports Car of the Year.

The category winners were all in the running for the top honour with the judging panel of close to 30 journalists electing E-Class by a landslide margin.
