Jaguar redefining sports saloon

One of the most important new cars to arrive in Ireland this year has landed.

Jaguar redefining sports saloon

Jaguar Land Rover Ireland this week launched the all-new Jaguar XE and announced an entry price of €37,995 (or €399 a month with Jaguar PCP) for a car which will go head-to-head with such as the Audi A4, the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class.

Jaguar says XE redefines the concept of the sports saloon and is a true driver’s car and the aluminium-intensive model is the first to be developed from Jaguar Land Rover’s new modular vehicle architecture.

The company maintains that the long 2,835mm wheelbase and low-seating position enable perfect proportions and a streamlined profile.

It also promises a cabin which offers outstanding levels of comfort and spaciousness. “Exquisite materials and finishes combined with Jaguar craftsmanship make this a class-beating interior that’s unlike anything else in the segment. Jaguar’s new infotainment system takes centre stage: its innovative 8in touchscreen brings fast, intuitive access to all features and functions,” JLR says.

XE is the first generation of Jaguar cars to feature the new Ingenium engines. The i4 Ingenium diesel engine is said to be so efficient it can achieve less than four litres/100km (75mpg) and is capable of producing 99g/km of CO2 along with breathtaking performance. It is the most efficient Jaguar ever, it says.

The car is being launched with Jaguar Care — a three-year warranty and unlimited mileage servicing and roadside- assistance package.

Commenting on this new arrival, Jaguar Land Rover Ireland’s managing director, Gerard O’Farrell, said the XE was the most hotly anticipated Jaguar to date.

“With outstanding levels of comfort and luxury, coupled with breathtaking performance and a very competitive entry price of €37,995 as well as a free three-year service plan with Jaguar Care, we’re confident XE will open up the Jaguar brand to new customers and we look forward to welcoming them to dealer showrooms in the coming weeks.”

The XE now completes the Jaguar saloon car range, sitting below the XF and XJ model lines and we will be driving it very soon, so watch out for that.
