Renault Fluence ZE — electric dream drive with a catch

Give a gal the offer of slipping into something new and she’s unlikely to refuse you. The offer that came my way didn’t involve an outfit change but it did come with a smooth shiny body and a dazzling set of headlamps.

It was the Renault Fluence ZE, the electric twin of the Renault Fluence, and it was mine to test drive. When I turned the key, I heard, well, nothing. Just a little green light on the dash flashing the advice “go”.

The chaps from Kearys Garage who dropped the car off had given a demo. No gears of course, therefore no clutch. Essentially, an automatic.
