Motors & Me: Colm Hayes - 2FM DJ
A ten-year-old BMW 3 series convertible (2004).
It’s falling apart a little bit, but I like it.
Well, I loved it at first, but now I’m going to drive it until the doors fall off.
I’m not sure about engines at all. I’ve very rarely opened the bonnet. I should probably open it a bit more. But you know what they say: ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.
Certainly not Sunday driver and also not petrol head. What lies between the two. I find driving very therapeutic, but I am the world’s worst passenger.
A second-hand Toyota Carina. It was banana-yellow in colour. I got it cheap, because nobody in the world wanted to be seen driving it.
I had a Honda Prelude, a Nissan Primera, a Mitsubishi FTO and a couple of BMWs, but not all at the same time.
Driving a Corvette across Route 66. A Ferrari Dino through the bends in the south of France. A six-wheeler RV across Canada. Take your pick.
Eddie Izzard. I’m fascinated by his brain and his career. Check out his CV; it runs over 70 pages long.
Pope Francis. I’m sorry Frankie, I’m just not getting it. I’m neither a fan of organised crime nor organised religion and he’d make sure you obey all the rules of the road — and I mean all of them.
Arctic Monkeys’ Am, The Kooks’ Listen, and Prince’s Sign ‘O’ The Times.
