Motors and Me: Brian Hurley, Cork Senior Footballer
Love at first sight. Always loved Honda cars, had three of them before this one and always dreamed of being a Honda ambassador. Now it’s a reality.
A diesel 1.6 i-DTEC Sport engine. Fairly nippy and outrageously economical. It’s a six speed and very comfortable in cruise control.
Used to be a petrol head but think I’ve have matured! So I’ll claim to be a Sunday driver.
A 1994 Honda Civic. It was a petrol 1.5 lsi — a weapon. My brother gave it to me . !
Went on to a 1999 Honda Civic 3dr 1.4 petrol. Then bought a 2002 1.6 Vtec Civic — probably the fastest car I had — but a bit fond of the petrol. Then I tried a 2004 Audi A4 — beautiful car but was a common customer in the garage and parts weren’t cheap! Last car I had before the 141, was a 2008 2.2 diesel Accord. Best car I had, most comfortable and best of all — low tax. It had all the extras and perfect on the road.
Monte Carlo track driving a Type R Honda Civic. Or driving my Civic down the M8 in September with the Sam Maguire cup after winning the All-Ireland SFC.
Would have to be Rihanna, no tunes needed. Or anyone of my friends who would make ya smile and have the banter.
A cranky one or someone that always falls asleep.
Rihanna, Robbie Williams, Avicii, Take That, Coldplay — anything that can relax me or tune me in before a game.
