Record July car sales

July saw a record numbers of cars sold in Ireland for that month with 18,776 new units registered — a 61% increase on the same month last year (11,620) which was the first year of the new dual registration plate.

So far this year, 84,474 new cars have been sold, an increase of 30% (19,571) on 2013 and 10,000 more cars than were registered last year.

HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) registrations are also up 40% for the month and 44% year to-date, while Light Commercial Vehicle registrations (vans) increased significantly, by 97% in July and by 46% year to-date, compared to last year.
