A green dream of a zero emission earth-friendly automobile is something which has haunted the motor industry for decades now, but despite all the money spent trying to develop such a thing, it seems we are now no nearer having one.

The Nissan Leaf, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Renault’s Fluence and Zoe ZE models, amongst others, have appeared as genuine electric contenders for a modern era, but all are hamstrung by a variety factors which renders them useless for the everyday family motorist.
