May sales increase 6%

THE continuing upward trend in car sales across Ireland has continued.

May sales increase 6%

May 2014 saw a 6% increase on the same month last year with 64,031 new cars sold so far in 2014 — up 12,481 on 2013.

Alan Nolan, SIMI director general, said: “We expected May to slow a little, in advance of the new 142 plate in July. While the increase isn’t as large as previous months, demand has remained strong, attributable to a more affordable marketplace for motorists and better availability of retail finance options.”
