Clare County Council has warned local residents of the risk of further coastal flooding this evening.

More than 100 passengers are on a ferry sailing between France and Ireland which has been forced to take shelter off the UK coast.

Power crews were attempting to restore electricity to thousands of homes in the south and south-west after Storm Imogen’s near hurricane winds caused widespread blackouts.

Motorists are being urged to watch out for fallen trees and debris on the roads this morning as a result of Storm Imogen.

More than 2,500 homes around the country are without power tonight as Storm Imogen crosses the country.
