Fifa president Sepp Blatter will not resign ahead of February’s emergency presidential election despite calls from major sponsors Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and Visa to go now.

Blatter’s immediate response was to insist that he is staying in office until February.

“It will help them get away and help them gel as they get ready to go again. It’s the least they deserve after all the entertainment they have given us.”
