The Government has been urged to provide special emergency funding to repair one of Cork’s greatest landmarks.

A 19th century sea wall is at risk of collapsing onto one of the west’s most popular beaches while the adjacent road continues to sink after being damaged in the recent storms.

There is also the matter of the man of the house recovering from heart surgery, but despite it all, Tony, Mary, and daughter Chloe are keeping their spirits up.

Additional manpower has been drafted in from overseas to assist in the mammoth task of restoring power to the thousands of households and businesses still without electricity in the wake of Storm Darwin.

The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has allocated €650,000 for the completion of repairs to a sea wall in an east Cork seaside town.
