A highly coordinated string of attacks have hit Iraq killing at least 36 and wounding more than 200.

Six car bombs in a northern Iraqi city have killed nine people and wounded 79, officials said.

A double truck bombing tore through a Shiite community near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul today, while a series of blasts struck Baghdad in a wave of pre-dawn violence which killed at least 40 people, according to officials.

A suicide truck bomber set off his explosives today in a public market in the centre of Tal Afar, in the north of Iraq, killing at least 17 people and injuring 35, police said.
