A county councillor who voluntarily took a lie detector test has spoken of his “huge relief” after the High Court quashed his conviction for assault.

A CORK county councillor and his brother withdrew their appeal yesterday against their conviction for assaulting the owner of a bar in Adrigole earlier this year.
