Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after two separate road crashes in Munster since Monday that left one man dead and another fighting for his life.

The single vehicle collision occurred in the Taur area of Newmarket where the man, the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

AN “extremely savage attack” in which a 30-year-old man was stabbed to death in a house in Killarney, in April 2007, was yesterday described to a jury.

A JURY was yesterday sworn in at the Circuit Criminal Court, in Tralee, for the trial of three people who are alleged to have assisted in the escape of two brothers wanted then in connection with an unlawful killing in Killarney in April 2007.
