Enda Kenny’s so called ‘whinger’ gaffe in Castlebar was a slip of the tongue and a harmless comment when compared with what another Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern once suggested the people should do ie commit suicide, before plunging us into one of the worst economic disasters since the foundation of the State.

Evert Bopp’s letter (Irish Examiner, March 24) is mischievous in so far as it seeks to convey the impression that a ‘Yes’ vote in the Marriage Equality Referendum will diminish the status in the Constitution of marriage between a man and a woman.
