POLICE combed the area near the Swiss home of missing twin girls including a nearby lake yesterday, in a desperate three country search more than a week after they vanished with their now dead father.

Fires in southern Corsica have ravaged more than 15,000 acres of forest and brush, French authorities said today.

Six small bombs went off around Corsica in an apparently co-ordinated effort on the French Mediterranean island where separatists have for decades used bombings to make their voices heard. No injuries were reported.
