At least 43 people died when a boat carrying illegal immigrants sank off Turkey’s Aegean coast, an official said today.

A moderate earthquake shook Turkey’s third-largest city of Izmir today, a seismology centre said, the latest in a series of tremors in the Aegean sea that have sent terrified residents out in the streets in panic.
