Dozens of schoolchildren, their teachers and families at two primary and secondary schools are being tested for TB after separate outbreaks of the life-threatening condition.

AN outbreak of TB has been gathering pace in a Cork city national school since August.

AS many as 336 people have been screened for Tuberculosis, half of them twice, in an effort to identify who is behind an outbreak of the disease in a Cork primary school where 48 people have been infected.

ANOTHER child has been diagnosed with full-blown TB at a Cork primary school and six more cases of latent infection have been detected, bringing to 47 the number of pupils and staff infected with the disease.
