Crisis-hit charity Rehab has had to to put its €12m headquarters up for sale to ensure it can pay off mounting bank debt and so keep funding vital services.

The Rehab Group is seeking an indemnity from its former chief executive, Angela Kerins, in defamation proceedings brought against the charity over denials of developer John Kelly’s claims that he gave Ms Kerins use of a helicopter, a private jet, and hospitality worth €100,000 with a view to securing rights to buy Rehab’s property at Roslyn Park, Dublin 4.

The Taoiseach has said Fine Gael strategist Frank Flannery should appear before the Public Accounts Committee to answer questions about his pension payments from Rehab.

A protest is being held by SIPTU members in Dublin today over the alleged failure of the Rehab Group to honour two outstanding Labour Court recommendations.
