A man has won his Supreme Court appeal over his conviction for burglary involving assault because he was charged with a different offence from that about which he was questioned and cautioned.

The Court of Criminal Appeal has reduced by 12 months the four-year prison sentenced imposed on a Dublin man who falsely accusing a priest of child sexual abuse.

A priest who was falsely accused of rape pleaded for leniency for the Dublin city man who claimed he had abused him as a child.
