Kerry County Council has taken another step towards the development of a cycling greenway on the Ring of Kerry that it hopes will become a major tourist attraction.

A German motorcyclist, on a tour of the South-West, died while travelling at a moderate speed on the main Ring of Kerry road after his bike went out of control, glanced off a rock in the margin which drove the machine further out of control and he was thrown from it.

Erasing graffiti from a prominent landmark on the busy Ring of Kerry tourist route could be a “high risk” operation, according to Kerry County Council.

THE people of Waterville, on the Ring of Kerry, proudly describe the village promenade as their gem and are seriously concerned about storm damage to a rock protection barrier laid down in the late 1990s.

As a clean-up continued yesterday following a landslide on a major tourist route on Sunday evening, there were complaints about a lack of signage on minor roads to which people were diverted.
