Four men who were sitting in a Toyota Avensis on the forecourt of a garage and sued for compensation when their car was jolted by a jeep that reversed into them had all their claims dismissed yesterday.

New charges were brought yesterday against four men arising out of an allegedly serious incident at a house in Bishopstown, Co Cork, on St Patrick’s Day where assaults were carried out and criminal damage caused.

A petrol bomb exploded when it was thrown at a garda patrol car after the guards were lured to a housing estate with a hoax call on Halloween night, it was claimed today, as two men were charged and refused bail.
