THE Iraqi government is preparing to ring Baghdad with tens of thousands of security forces to curb the rampant insurgency.

A suicide car bomber detonated his vehicle in Karbala’s main bus station today, killing 10 people and wounding 30, a hospital official said.

At least 125 people were killed and hundreds were wounded in attacks on Shiite shrines in Baghdad and the southern city of Karbala today, Iraq’s Governing Council said.
