Israeli warplanes pounded Beirut’s southern suburbs and other parts of Lebanon early today, local media reported.

The top UN humanitarian official today denounced the Israeli airstrikes that have devastated Beirut and southern Lebanon and appealed for safe passage for aid, saying civilians were paying a ”disproportionate price” in the attacks targeting Hezbollah strongholds.

Israeli warplanes repeatedly blasted Beirut’s southern suburbs today, causing a series of huge blasts, Hezbollah’s Al Manar television reported.

The Israeli military has imposed a naval blockade on Lebanon.
