Irish Manchester United defender Jonny Evans will not face charges in connection to an alleged rape at the team’s Christmas party, police said today.

A 19-year-old man arrested in connection with an alleged rape at Manchester United’s Christmas party has been released on bail, Greater Manchester Police said today.

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans was being questioned today over the alleged rape of a woman at the club’s Christmas party, sources said.

Police are this morning questioning a 19-year-old man about claims that a woman was raped at a hotel where Manchester United footballers were holding a party.
