TENS of thousands of South Koreans streamed to a rural village yesterday to pay their respects to former president Roh Moo-hyun a day after he killed himself by jumping off a rocky cliff overlooking his home.

Former South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun, embroiled in a broadening corruption scandal, died from a fall today in the mountains behind his rural southern home. He left behind a suicide note, his lawyer said.

Fifty four people are thought to have survived the crash of an Air China jet in South Korea.
