Cork County Council has written to furniture giant, Ikea, urging it to locate its first store outside of Dublin at one of three potential sites in North Cork — one of which was a former army barracks.

IDA Ireland is to be asked to explain why it has failed to attract any industry to a 21-acre site, developed 14 years ago, currently being used to graze animals.

A TOWN steeped in military history is to commemorate it by opening up a museum which will be dedicated to a 200-year association with the British and Irish armies.
