A woman died as a result of a house fire in a Cork city suburb yesterday.

A gangster whose meticulously-planned raid on a safe in a businessman’s home was thwarted by armed gardaí with grenades and helicopter support has been jailed for 12 years.

AS a long-suffering, taxpaying commuter, I wish to comment on the public transport system in Cork, specifically the number 8/8A route from the city centre to Bishopstown during evening rush hour.
