A bid by two men, who claimed they were “stitched up” by gardaí, to have their appeal against their convictions for the possession of heroin worth €43,000 heard by the Supreme Court has been dismissed by the Court of Criminal Appeal.

A GARDA ombudsman commissioner has told an inquest into the death of a 19-year-old man, who was being followed by a Garda car when his car collided with a barrier, that the commission is expecting a decision by the DPP within the next number of weeks.
