Turkey is battling the largest ever recorded outbreak of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever, which has killed at least 20 people this year, and experts today said more cases of the Ebola-like disease are inevitable in coming months.

Turkey today raced to contain an outbreak of bird flu and reassure the world it had the potentially fatal illness under control, after preliminary tests showed at least 15 people – two of them children who have died – were infected with the deadly H5N1 strain.

A landslide buried 21 houses in central Turkey today and at least 12 people were reported missing.
