Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s in connection with a serious assault on a man in his 60s in Dundalk.

A 26-year-old Tallaght man has pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court to possession of a gun and ammunition in Dundalk last year.

Alleged former IRA chief Thomas “Slab” Murphy made his second appearance in court on tax evasion charges today.

ARMED gardaí stood guard yesterday as a leading figure in the IRA was accused of tax evasion.
