Agreement has been reached to sell the Whiddy Island oil terminal in Bantry, which holds a third of Ireland’s strategic oil reserves, to the US startup, Zenith Energy.

The firm that operates the State’s only oil refinery plunged into the red last year to record pre-tax losses of $42.48m (€32.17m). 

Today marks the first day of operations of Phillips 66 oil refinery and storage facilities in Ireland.
