Counting is under way in the Monaghan local election that was cancelled last month.

The local election count in Ballybay-Clones, Co Monaghan, is set to be declared null and void after the sudden death of sitting Owen Bannigan.

The ballot in Ballybay Clones will have to be reheld at a later date following the death of Fine Gael candidate Owen Bannigan.
