The son of a man who was convicted but later cleared of the 1998 Omagh bombing has today been granted bail pending an appeal against his conviction for explosives offences.

The Special Criminal Court has ruled that it is entitled to draw inferences from the failure of a Louth man accused of possessing explosive substances to answer material questions put to him in interview with Gardaí.
