Bapaume claimed the scalp of Landofhopeandglory in the Knight Frank Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown.

The anticipated clash between two of last year’s leading staying hurdlers did not materialise at Thurles, but, in the absence of Prince Of Scars, the opening race proved a worthwhile schooling exercise for the Mouse Morris-trained Alpha Des Obeaux.

Punchestown is the focus of our attention for the next two days, and the nap on this afternoon’s good card goes to Bosco Di Alco, in the www.Coral.ie Maiden Hurdle.
