Kala Brandy, winner of her bumper in Wexford in March, might be capable of landing the Irish Stallion farms Mares Maiden Hurdle in Cork tonight for Paul Townend, fresh from his three winners at the Punchestown Festival last week, and his dad Tim.

Tested, as long as the ground doesn’t deteriorate to any great extent, can land the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Fairy Bridge Stakes at Tipperary this evening.

Odds-on favourite Landau and Drunken Counsel provided trainer Gordon Elliott with a double on Downpatrick’s Bank Holiday card on a day when the County Meath handler also doubled-up, with Balbriggan and Taglietelle at Cartmel.

Landau could hardly be described as the most reliable horse in training, but does look good enough to win the Botanica International Natural Herbal Products Maiden Hurdle at Downpatrick this afternoon.
