A man who was supposed to have been expelled from France admitted yesterday to kidnapping and killing a girl in the northern town of Calais after she shot a water pistol at him.

A man has confessed to raping and killing a nine-year-old girl after kidnapping her from a French playground in front of her mother, prosecutors in France have said.
