Funeral arrangements have yet to be made for two Irish children killed in a horrific car crash in England which left their parents with life-changing injuries.

An inquest into the death of Oisín Twomey opened and adjourned yesterday, paving the way for the family to make arrangements for the repatriation of his body to Ireland for burial.

Britain’s police watchdog has confirmed it is investigating whether the car which crashed into a Cork family — killing a 16-month-old boy and an unborn baby and seriously injuring their parents — was being chased by police at the time.

The family of a Cork couple who lost a child and an unborn baby in last Friday’s crash in England will today be briefed by independent investigators looking at the police’s actions in the run-up to the crash.
