Independent News & Media is not compliant with part of a corporate governance code requiring at least half of its board be independent, a review by INM has found.

Independent News and& Media’s chief executive Vincent Crowley has said that the election of Leslie Buckley as group chairman will not compromise editorial control and content at its titles which include the Irish Independent, the Sunday Independent and the Evening Herald.

Four directors have been elected to board of Independent News and Media.

Independent News & Media shareholders are set to vote Cork-born businessman Leslie Buckley back onto the group’s board on Monday.
