FORMER Cork TD Barry Cogan has said the downturn in the economy scuppered any chance five retired politicians had of qualifying for its lucrative pension scheme.

The Irish film Speed Dating has won the Audience Award at the Indianapolis International Film Festival.

The privately-funded Irish rom-com 'Speed Dating' collected the Audience Award at the European Independent Film Festival in Paris.
