Residents are hoping to revitalise the Georgian centre of the town with the regeneration of Denny St, says Anne Lucey

Rare images of Tralee in the 1860s, believed to be the earliest-ever of Kerry’s county town, will form part of a two-day conference to explore the complex and “eventful” 800-year-old history of the Anglo-Norman settlement.

A pledge by a descendant of a family that ruled Tralee for 300 years is to be fulfilled: Dorset-based stained-glass artist Tom Denny, a descendant of the Elizabethan planter, Edward Denny, is to complete a window for the town’s St John’s Catholic church.
