Rescuers pulled the final survivors from the gnarled wreckage of Japan’s worst train crash in decades today as investigators raided rail operator offices for clues about why the train skidded from the tracks, killing 73 people.

A PACKED commuter train, which was behind schedule and may have been speeding, jumped the tracks yesterday, killing 57 people and injuring 440 in Japan’s worst rail accident in 40 years.

The death toll after today's Japanese train crash is now 50 and officials say the number of injured had increased to 417.
